Studio Policies

Welcome to Certified Fancy Vocal Studio!

My goal is to create a welcoming, encouraging environment where singers can explore their abilities, develop their skills, and enjoy making music. Whether you're preparing for a performance, working toward ambitious musical goals, or simply discovering the pleasure of singing, your lessons will be tailored to you.

A few shared expectations help keep the studio running smoothly and ensure everyone receives the attention and support they deserve.

Our Approach to Learning

 

What you can expect from me 

I provide individualized instruction in healthy vocal technique, musicianship, musical interpretation, and performance skills. I'll help you understand your voice, recognize your progress, and work through challenges at a pace appropriate to your goals and experience.

Lessons are a place to experiment, ask questions, make mistakes, and discover what's possible.

What I ask of students

Come ready to learn, be curious, and participate in the process. Regular practice is encouraged because even a few minutes of focused work between lessons can make a meaningful difference.

Life gets busy, and progress isn't always linear. If something is affecting your ability to practice or participate, please communicate with me so we can make the most of our time together.

Tuition & Enrollment

 

Ongoing Voice Training

Ongoing Voice Training is semester based, and reserves a regular weekly lesson time during the academic year, from approximately mid-August through May.
 

• Tuition is calculated across the teaching year and divided into consistent monthly payments.

• Payments are processed automatically through Fons.

• Tuition reserves your ongoing place in the studio and is not adjusted for individual absences.

• A $25 late fee applies to payments more than five days overdue.

• Keeping your account current ensures your reserved lesson time remains available.

 

 

Attendance & Cancellations

 

Illness 

Please stay home if you're sick, particularly if you have a fever, sore throat, or voice loss. Your vocal health and the health of everyone in the studio comes first. I can provide an at-home musicianship assignment or another learning activity.

Schedule Conflicts

If you need to miss a semester lesson because of travel, family commitments, rehearsals, or other activities, you may submit a practice or performance video for personalized feedback.

This asynchronous lesson allows you to continue making progress even when you cannot attend in person.
 

Scheduling guidelines

• Semester lessons reserve a consistent weekly appointment and do not include rescheduling or makeup lessons for student absences.

• Flex Package appointments may be rescheduled with at least 48 hours' notice.

• Missed appointments and late cancellations are forfeited.

• If you arrive late, we'll make the most of the remaining lesson time.

• If I need to cancel a lesson, I will arrange a replacement lesson or provide an appropriate tuition credit.
   

Withdrawing from Lessons

Sometimes schedules, priorities, and circumstances change. If you need to discontinue semester lessons, please provide written notice by email at least 30 days in advance. Tuition remains due through the end of the final billing month.

 

Flex Lesson Packages

Flex Packages are designed for singers who prefer to schedule lessons individually rather than reserve a weekly appointment.

• Packages include three prepaid lessons.

• Lessons may be scheduled according to availability.

• Lesson credits are valid for six months from purchase.

• Appointments may be rescheduled with at least 48 hours' notice.

• Missed appointments or late cancellations count as used lessons.

• Unused credits are non-refundable and expire at the end of the six-month period.​

Sheet Music & Learning Materials

Students are responsible for purchasing their own sheet music and any recommended learning materials.

Digital copies may be shared when the music is in the public domain or appropriately licensed. Thank you for helping support the composers, arrangers, and publishers who create the music we love.

Communication

Fons/MakeMusic is our home base for scheduling, lesson reminders, and billing.

For general questions or administrative matters, email is preferred during business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 AM–6 PM. Text messages are best reserved for time-sensitive matters. And please share your musical victories, big or small. I love hearing about them!

Online Lessons

Online students can enjoy productive, engaging lessons with a little preparation.

This is the equipment requirement for lessons; 

• A quiet space where you can sing comfortably without interruptions.

• Enough room to stand and move, with your upper body visible on camera.

• Sheet music, a pencil, and a binder or folder, as well as a music stand.

• A good laptop (Chromebook is not strong enough)

• A reliable internet connection.

• A camera that allow us to see each other clearly.

• A bluetooth speaker.

• A separate device (like a smart phone) for accompaniment tracks.

• An external microphone.
