Choir Performance

Group Lessons

Social singing: practiced in cultures around the world for milennia.

What will you learn?

In our group classes, we will go over the same things as in individual lessons, but in a less individualized way. We might work on an ensemble piece, but this group class is not a choir. It is aimed at teaching you healthy vocal techniques so you can sing the music you want to sing.

  1. Learn muscle coordination

  2. Strengthen your vocal muscles

  3. Strengthen your breath control

  4. Increase your range

  5. Sing with freedom throughout a range

  6. Sing low and high notes with ease

  7. Learn songs to perform

Who are group classes for?

Based on demand, we offer group classes for various ages 18+.

You used to love singing in high school. Maybe you even joined a choir in college. Being with others and singing was fun and rewarding, and if you're honest with yourself, you wish you had done more. Now you're an adult, and while you wish you could take voice lessons, you have a hard time justifying the expense because, after all, you'd rather invest in your kids than in yourself. Even if you wanted to, the vocal studios in your area all advertise lessons for kids and teenagers who want to make it on American Idol or The Voice

Why choose a group class?

  • Affordable

  • Socially fun

  • Reinforces learning by hearing other students

  • Practice in front of others and learn to deal with nerves

  • Provides accountability and peer pressure so you get your music learned

  • Great way to dip your toe in the water and see if you still enjoy singing

Music Theory Classes

Music is an elevated language, that uses sounds in patterns and harmonies to convey meaning and emotions.

Music is an elevated language that uses sounds and harmonies to convey meaning and emotions.
Just as with a spoken language---in which there are rules that govern everything from how to spell words, to sentence structure, to advanced poetic progressions--- there are rules that govern the language of music.

Without understanding the language of music, being a musician is never truly satisfying, because you don't learn how to create your own sentences.

Music without the knowledge of theory is similar to learning English by only ever memorizing Shakespeare's sonnets. As artistic and beautiful as they are, to be able to have a conversation with someone in English, and express your thoughts and ideas, you need to understand the grammar and structure of English. The same is true for music. To merely learn to repeat a melody is not to understand how to shape and create one yourself.

Take the test below and see if there is a class you can join. All classes are held online.
